Welcome

Welcome to Chudleigh Twinning Association.

Chudleigh has been twinned with the town of Troarn in the north of France since 1982. We are a friendly group that supports this long term relationship through exchange visits between the two towns. We also organise regular social and fundraising events in and around Chudleigh.

Why Twinning?

It’s fun, educational and exciting to meet people who live in a different country other than our own. Over the years we have enjoyed building long lasting friendships, establishing common ground and experiencing cultural differences between English and French ways of life. It’s also a great way to get to know each other in Chudleigh through our regular events.

Who can join?

Everyone is welcome! We would encourage anyone living in Chudleigh and surroundings communities to get involved. We offer both individual and family memberships.

Do I need to be able to speak French?

No! Even when there is no common language many participants are able to find ways to communicate during exchange visits.

Some members, however,  find it useful to refresh knowledge or learn new skills in French.  Equally our friends from Troarn enjoy the opportunity to practice communicating in English.

Where is Troarn?

Troarn is a small town located in the Calvados department in the Normandy region of north western France not far from the city of Caen and the port of Ouistreham.
